DIY 'Lemon Drops' Farmhouse Decor Sign
No truer words have been spoken like these from Elton John, "music has healing power".
What better way to add some sunny yellow to brighten and cheer us up? The answer, LEMONS!
Lemons are awesome!
And what song came to mind, from the "Wizard of Oz", but "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"
..."Where troubles melt like Lemon Drops"!!
That creative feeling started to take over and as I started to paint, and cut my vinyl, my troubles did start to melt away and this opportunity to share this with you as well as to kick start, something that I truly love is "ART".

STEP 1- Prep the Sign Board
First, I start by sanding down any rough surfaces and edges. I used 120 grit sandpaper.
After, I wipe the boards down with a wet cloth to remove any wood particles.
Paint your board with the Folk Art chalk paint in "White Adirondack" with a foam brush.
This is optional, once the board is dried, you can choose to sand the board down to give it a distressed look.
STEP 2- Add Transfer to board
Laying out the transfer first, gave me a better idea on how to place the lemons.
Then I cut the lemons in the design that I loved.
Removed the backing. Placed the cut out transfers I was using on the board, and then
rubbed the transfer on the board. Pulling up to see if the transfer adhered to the board.
STEP 3- PREP the Saying
Cut your saying out, I used Cricut's Black vinyl.
Weed the saying out and center on board.
STEP 4- Paint the wood strips for the Frame
It usually only takes one coat of DIY paint to cover anything. You can choose any color or stain for your frame. I was looking for a weathered wood look, so I coincidentally that just happened to be the name of the DIY paint I used.
STEP 5- Seal your board and your wood strips
Once the paint is dried on your wood strips, I sealed them using Waverly's clear wax with a foam brush.
Also, to seal the transfer to the board, I used the clear wax, covering the whole board.
Allow the wax to cure 24 hours before putting the frame together.
STEP 6- Putting the frame together/ Fit board in
Line your wood strips together and SAFELY, using a nail gun attach the strips to each other.
Pressing down on the board, I pushed until it was setting nice and snug in the frame.
With my hot glue gun, I glued the corners to the frame.
